Welcome To Lois Greifer, Ph.D.
Welcome! And thank you for stopping by my website to learn something about me and how I may be able to help you. As a clinical psychologist and fellow human being, I want to assure you that I understand how hard it can be to take that first step towards therapy, or even to return to therapy after a period of time. I understand that you may be seeking therapy for help with a very specific problem, or for help with a less- defined, more generalized sense of dissatisfaction or disappointment with life.
I understand that you may be considering therapy for the short- or long-term, as something to try and see how it goes or as something you already feel committed to. There are many reasons people seek therapy and many ways in which they enter into it. Please know that I aim to meet you right where you are, and to greet your thoughts and feelings, as they arise, with interest, respect and curiosity. And, as we work together, to enable you to greet yourself with the same level of respect and thoughtfulness.
My hope is that through our therapeutic relationship, you may come to feel more self acceptance, a greater sense of freedom in making life choices, and more satisfaction and meaning in living your life.
Mission
Lois Greifer, Ph.D., likes to tell the story of the time a young woman, unfamiliar with the whole practice of psychotherapy, called her on the phone to set up an initial consultation. Nervously, the young woman implored, “Before setting up an appointment, I really need to know if you specialize in relationship issues.” “Yes, of course”, Dr. Greifer replied, “as I specialize in human issues”.
